Legacy Fund

"With true relationships, a sense of freedom flourishes, freedom to know oneself, and to be known, to be not only the recipient of care, but the shapers of that care -- to act with others, rather than being only acted upon by others."
~ Carter Catlett Williams

Pioneer Network Introduces
The Carter Williams Legacy Fund

Pioneer Network believes in the opportunity to make home with dignity a reality for today's elders and for future generations.  At the heart of our work is to transform aging communities into settings that provide choice, relationship and home; to create and support innovative alternatives to help people stay in their independent homes and communities; and to change the way that elders live and age across America.

We recognize that inspired and empowered people are truly at the heart of all change. To support the engagement of more hands, we have established The Carter Williams Legacy Fund for personal growth in those who desire to make a difference in their elder care communities.  This fund is named in honor of Carter Catlett Williams, Convener of the Pioneer Network in the late 1990s, whose compassion and leadership has inspired countless pioneers around the nation and the world.  It is also inspired by other early "pioneers" in the culture change movement who will be recognized each year.

We Invite You to Apply Today!

The Carter Williams Legacy Fund is a grant program to support the personal growth of individuals involved in creating a new culture of elder care and aging.  If you have a desire to create change or to be a catalyst for inspiration in your community, we invite you to apply.   Grants will be awarded for a full range of activities. For example, perhaps you'd like to attend a conference, work with a coalition or to order educational materials that support person-directed care for your co-workers.
