The Cost and Quality of Culture Change

A Model of Investment and Returns

CLICK ON EACH SEGMENT ABOVE FOR MORE DETAIL.

For most stakeholders, it's intuitive to view person-directed practice as beneficial to the quality of care and quality of life of older adults. However, resulting positive organizational outcomes are often less obvious and more difficult to quantify.  The above model represents early work in identifying investment areas in culture change and correlating investment to impact for both the elder and the provider of long-term care. The model begins with leadership commitment and is followed by highlighting areas of investment. The model then isolates variables associated with returns for the organization, staff and older adult. Working with this model, future analysis will further quantify these correlations to allow for more predictive modeling, estimates and benchmarking of culture change investments. Findings from case studies further describe each of the zones of the model.
